About Windwhistle (formerly Pied Type)
The mountains are calling
In 2007 “Pied Type” seemed the perfect name for a blog created by a retired editor. But as the years passed and my career became a distant memory, the mountains that drew me to Colorado in the first place stood solid, just a few miles away and always calling. Strength and permanence in a life full of change. Hence the overdue change of title to Windwhistle, the name of a certain rustic cabin in the mountains that has been there since my childhood and hosted several of my summer vacations.
I worked in print publishing for thirty years, mostly in Oklahoma City where I grew up. And I’ve been publishing on the internet since 1995. In 2005 I was finally able to move to Thornton, Colorado (north Denver metro) and while I still don’t have that place in the mountains that I’ve always dreamed of, I’m a lot closer than I was in OKC.
These days I enjoy publishing this blog (more than 3,400 posts since 2002) and writing about whatever is on my mind. Current events, politics, the environment, random musings, etc. Among other things I’m a registered Unaffiliated voter — liberal on some issues, conservative on others, and open to change. I’m also a gamer, grandmother, introvert, atheist, and cancer survivor (see my other blog, Cancer: Curves Ahead).
